Condell Park - Grab rail, access ramp and hybrid flooring project

Works were carried out in line with the Occupational Therapist’s recommendations and focused on improving everyday access, floor traction and bathroom support within the home.

Work completed

The project included:

  1. Hybrid flooring installation – supplied and installed hybrid flooring with an R10 slip rating across the nominated internal areas to provide improved surface traction.
  2. Front entrance threshold ramp – installed a rubber ramp measuring approximately 900 mm wide × 90 mm high, with an approximate 1:10 gradient, to assist with the level change at the entrance.
  3. Shower grab rail – installed a 450 mm horizontal stainless steel grab rail within the shower recess to provide an additional handhold for the client.

Project context

This project formed part of a Support at Home home modification designed to address several accessibility requirements identified within the property.

Rather than focusing on a single area, the modifications addressed three common parts of the home: internal flooring, the main entrance threshold and the shower area.

These targeted modifications can help make everyday movement around the home more practical while allowing clients to continue using their existing living environment.

Freedom Building Construction works with Occupational Therapists, Support at Home providers, care organisations and families across Sydney to deliver practical home modifications based on assessed client requirements.
