Support at Home Modification Services
Every client's home, mobility requirements and existing property conditions are different. FBC provides site-specific building solutions rather than applying the same modification to every home.
Access Ramps
Custom access ramps can provide an alternative to steps or difficult entry areas for clients using wheelchairs, walkers or other mobility aids.
Depending on the property and approved requirements, ramp solutions may include timber or composite construction, landings, slip-resistant surfaces, handrails and edge protection.

Grab Rails
Grab rails can provide additional support in bathrooms, toilets and other areas of the home.
Correct positioning, suitable fixing locations and the existing wall construction need to be considered as part of the installation.

Handrails
Internal and external handrails can assist clients who require additional support when using stairs, pathways or changes in level around the home.
FBC installs stainless steel and other appropriate handrail solutions depending on the project requirements and site conditions.

Bathroom Modifications
Depending on the client's needs and approved scope, bathroom modifications may include grab rails, shower access improvements, handheld showers, tapware changes, toilet support solutions and more extensive bathroom modifications.
The appropriate solution depends on the existing bathroom, client requirements, proposed scope and OT recommendations where applicable.

Working With Occupational Therapists & Support at Home Providers
FBC understands that a home modification project may involve several people, including the client, family, Occupational Therapist, care provider or care manager.
Our role is to translate the agreed home modification requirements into a practical construction solution.
We can work from information including:
- Occupational Therapist reports and recommendations
- Provider referrals
- Photos and measurements
- Client access requirements
- Approved project scopes
- Existing property and site conditions
Where clarification is required, we can communicate with the relevant referring professional before finalising the construction scope.
FBC does not replace the role of the Occupational Therapist. Our role is to provide the building assessment, quotation and construction services required to practically implement the approved home modification.
How the Support at Home Referral Process Works
1. Send the Referral
Send us the client's details, requested modification, site photos and any available OT report or supporting information.
2. FBC Reviews the Project
We review the requested works, available information and likely construction requirements.
For straightforward installations, photos and measurements may be sufficient to prepare initial pricing.
More complex home modifications may require a site inspection.
3. Scope & Quote Prepared
FBC prepares a quotation based on the requested works, site information and relevant OT or provider requirements.
Where necessary, construction questions can be clarified before the scope is finalised.
4. Provider / Client Approval
The quotation can then proceed through the appropriate client or provider approval process.
5. Works Scheduled
Once approval to proceed is received, FBC coordinates the construction or installation with the relevant parties.
6. Completion
The approved works are completed, with completion photos or other agreed documentation available where required.

Real Sydney Home Modification Projects
Lindfield – Custom Access Ramp
A Lindfield property presented a challenging access situation because the home was positioned below street level and the original entrance required the client and carer to negotiate multiple sets of stairs.
FBC worked with the client's Occupational Therapist to develop a custom access ramp solution around the site's existing levels, available space and access requirements.

Kellyville – NDIS Access Ramp
Although completed through a different funding pathway, the Kellyville project demonstrates FBC's practical approach to OT-recommended accessibility construction.
Following an Occupational Therapist's assessment, FBC completed a purpose-built access ramp with slip-resistant composite decking and 316 stainless steel handrails, designed around the client's access requirements and existing site conditions.

Support at Home Home Modification FAQ
Can FBC work from an Occupational Therapist's report?
Yes. We regularly review OT recommendations as part of home modification enquiries and quotations. We can identify construction questions or site issues that may need clarification before works proceed.
Can you quote from photos?
For many straightforward modifications, photos, measurements and the requested scope can help us provide initial pricing.
Complex ramps, bathrooms or other substantial modifications may require a site inspection before a final quotation can be prepared.
Do you only provide access ramps?
No. FBC provides a range of accessibility and home modification services including access ramps, grab rails, handrails, bathroom modifications and selected access improvements.
Can a Support at Home provider refer a client directly?
Yes. Providers, Occupational Therapists, care managers, clients and families can contact FBC about proposed home modification work.
Where there are OT recommendations or an approved scope, please include them with the referral where possible.
Does FBC decide whether Support at Home will fund the work?
No. Funding eligibility, approval and available budgets are determined through the relevant Support at Home arrangements and provider processes.
FBC's role is to assess the construction requirements, prepare quotations and complete approved building works.
What areas does FBC service?
FBC provides home modification services across Sydney and surrounding areas, subject to the type and size of the project.
