Home Modification Builder for OTs & Care Providers Sydney
Practical Home Modification Support for Occupational Therapists & Care Providers
Freedom Building Construction works with Occupational Therapists, Support at Home providers, Care Managers, Case Managers, Support Coordinators and other referring professionals across Sydney to deliver practical accessibility and home modification works.
We understand that a successful home modification requires more than simply installing a product. The proposed solution needs to consider the client's requirements, OT recommendations, existing property, site constraints and practical construction requirements.
FBC can review OT reports, photos, measurements and proposed scopes, identify construction issues that may require clarification, prepare quotations and complete approved building works.
Subject to site conditions and Occupational Therapist requirements where applicable.

How FBC Works With Occupational Therapists
The Occupational Therapist and builder have different but complementary roles in a home modification project.
Occupational Therapist
Where an OT is involved, the Occupational Therapist assesses the client's functional and accessibility requirements and provides relevant recommendations.
Freedom Building Construction
FBC assesses how the proposed modification can be practically implemented within the existing property.
This may include consideration of:
- Existing construction and fixing locations
- Site levels and available space
- Access and construction constraints
- Materials and installation methods
- Buildability of the proposed solution
- Construction scope and quotation requirements
Where a recommendation raises a practical construction question, FBC can communicate with the OT or referring organisation to help clarify the proposed scope before work proceeds.
FBC does not replace the role of the Occupational Therapist.
A Simple Referral & Quotation Process
Our aim is to make it straightforward for referring professionals to send FBC the information needed to assess a proposed home modification.
1. Send the Referral
Provide the client's details, requested modification, photos and any available OT report or recommendations.
2. Initial Construction Review
FBC reviews the information and determines whether additional measurements, photographs, clarification or a site inspection may be required.
3. Site Inspection Where Required
Straightforward works may sometimes be assessed from adequate documentation.
More complex ramps, bathrooms or site-specific modifications may require an inspection before the construction scope can be finalised.
4. Scope & Quotation
FBC prepares the construction quotation based on the available information, proposed works and relevant project requirements.
If construction issues need clarification, we can communicate with the relevant referring professional before finalising the scope.
5. Approval & Scheduling
Once the appropriate approval to proceed is received, FBC coordinates the work with the client and relevant parties.
6. Completion
Approved works are completed, with completion photographs or other agreed construction documentation available where required.

Real FBC Accessibility Projects
Real completed projects help referring professionals understand the types of site conditions and construction challenges FBC works with.
Kellyville – NDIS Access Ramp & Home Modification
Following an Occupational Therapist's assessment, FBC completed a purpose-built access solution for an NDIS participant in Kellyville.
The project included a custom access ramp, slip-resistant composite decking and 316 stainless steel handrails, developed around the client's access requirements, approved project requirements and existing site conditions.

Lindfield – Custom Access Ramp
At this Lindfield property, the home sat below street level and the existing entrance involved multiple sets of stairs.
FBC worked with the client's Occupational Therapist to develop a custom access ramp solution around the existing levels, available space and access requirements.

Why Refer a Home Modification Project to FBC?
Practical Construction Input
OT recommendations need to work within the realities of an existing property. FBC can identify site and construction considerations that may affect how the proposed solution is implemented.
Clear Scope & Quotation
We aim to provide a clear construction scope and quotation based on the information available and identify where additional information is required.
Communication With Referring Professionals
Where a construction issue needs clarification, FBC can communicate with the relevant OT, provider or referring professional rather than making assumptions about the client's requirements.
Experience With Accessibility Construction
Our work includes access ramps, grab rails, handrails, bathrooms and other selected accessibility modifications across Sydney.
Real Project Evidence
Our Accessibility Projects library provides examples of completed FBC work so referring professionals can see how different accessibility challenges have been approached.
