Why our price reflects the installation—not just the rail
A grab rail is only as safe as its position and the structure supporting it.
The location recommended by an occupational therapist does not always align with existing wall framing. Moving the rail simply to reach a convenient stud may make it less effective for the person who needs it.
Before installation, we assess the wall construction and select an appropriate fixing method for the prescribed rail position. Depending on the wall, this may involve masonry anchors, fixing into suitable structural framing, an approved load-rated fixing system, or installing additional timber backing.
This assessment—and any work required to create a secure fixing—is why installation prices vary. Straightforward installations with accessible structural support sit at the lower end of our range. Tiled masonry, concealed framing, hollow walls and installations requiring additional backing generally cost more.
Every standard installation includes:
- Assessment of the wall and proposed fixing locations before drilling
- A fixing system selected for the wall construction and rail application
- Installation in the position prescribed by your occupational therapist, where provided
- Installation with reference to applicable requirements of AS 1428.1 and the rail manufacturer’s instructions
- A manual post-installation security check to confirm the rail is firm, stable and shows no visible movement
- Photographs of the completed installation for your records
Where the wall cannot safely support the rail at the required location, we will explain the additional work needed before proceeding. We do not rely on tiles or wall lining alone to support a safety rail.
Our manual security check is a practical installation check—not a certified or measured load test. No load-test certificate or loading figure is provided.
For Support at Home and NDIS-funded work, we can work from your occupational therapist’s prescription and provide an itemized, funder-ready quotation.
