Custom Access Ramp Installation Sydney

Wheelchair & Accessibility Ramps for Support at Home, NDIS and Private Clients

Freedom Building Construction provides custom access ramp solutions across Sydney for people who require safer and more accessible entry to their homes.

We work with private clients, Occupational Therapists, Support at Home providers, NDIS participants, care managers and other referring professionals to deliver practical access solutions suited to the individual client and property.

Each ramp is considered individually based on the client's needs, available space, existing steps and levels, site conditions, drainage, access requirements and the proposed ramp design. Depending on the project, solutions may include timber or composite access ramps, slip-resistant surfaces, landings, stainless steel handrails and edge protection.

For OT-referred or funded projects, we can review the available OT recommendations, photos, measurements and approved project requirements as part of the quotation and construction process.

Subject to site conditions and Occupational Therapist requirements where applicable.

Access Ramp Design Considerations

Every access ramp needs to be assessed individually. Important design factors include:

  • available space and ramp length
  • safe gradient based on client mobility and site conditions
  • level landings where required
  • slip-resistant ramp surface
  • handrails and edge protection where required
  • connection to existing paths, driveways or entry doors
  • drainage and long-term durability
  • OT report requirements, where provided

We regularly install access ramps based on Occupational Therapist recommendations for elderly clients, Support at Home participants, HCP recipients, NDIS participants and private clients.

Why Professional Ramp Design Matters

A poorly designed ramp can create new safety risks. Important considerations include:

  • Safe gradient based on site conditions and client mobility
  • Suitable ramp width
  • Stable structural framing
  • Slip-resistant surface
  • Secure handrails where required
  • Level landings where required
  • Proper footings and drainage
  • Safe transition to existing paths, doors or driveways

For OT-recommended work, we review the report carefully and build according to the specified access needs wherever site conditions allow.

Access Ramp FAQ

Do I need an OT report for an access ramp?

Not always. Private clients can request a ramp assessment directly. For funded home modifications, an OT assessment or supporting documentation may be required depending on the provider, funding pathway and proposed works.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes. For many standard ramp enquiries, photos and basic measurements help us provide initial guidance. More complex ramps may require a site visit before final pricing.

Do you only build timber ramps?

No. We provide custom access ramp solutions. Timber-framed ramps are often practical for Sydney homes because they can be customised on site, but aluminium, modular or threshold options may also be suitable depending on the situation.

Are ramps always built to AS1428?

Ramp design considers AS1428 access principles where applicable, but the final solution depends on site conditions, available space, OT requirements and the type of home. We do not force a standard solution where the site requires a custom approach.

Can you work with OTs and care providers?

Yes. We regularly work from OT recommendations and can provide quotes, scope descriptions and completion photos for providers and case managers.

What areas do you service?

We install custom access ramps across Greater Sydney, including the Inner West, Ryde, Chatswood, Parramatta, Burwood, Western Sydney and surrounding suburbs.

Send us photos of the access area, the client’s mobility needs and any OT report.

Freedom Building Construction can assess the site and recommend a practical access ramp option based on safety, available space, funding requirements and site conditions.
